21 Ways to Elevate Your Digital Marketing

21 Ways to Elevate Your Digital Marketing in 2024

2024 is a year that has truly been a rollercoaster of emotions, with fear and uncertainty being at the very core of it. Along with this, there is also the fact that we have had to suddenly adjust to a new normal with absolutely no warning. However, we must commend the fact that we all continue to thrive – we have seen some of the best marketing ideas and content come to life this year, whether it be topicals or campaigns.

Beyond everybody developing a sudden love for sanitizers and face coverings that we, for some reason, continue to obligatorily smile behind when we see someone familiar, there was also a lot of disruption when it came to the economy. Physical businesses were suddenly thrown into a tizzy, and come March, we were all attending Zoom meetings in our pajamas from the comfort of our beds, day in and day out.

Fortunately, the mighty internet came to our rescue! A record number of businesses have now gone digital, and people have realized that they need not invest in a brick-and-mortar store to achieve their dream of being entrepreneurs – all they need is an internet connection and a solid business plan.

Marketing, of course, is a key part of this, because we are all placing most of our orders online. For this very reason, a lot of businesses have turned to digital marketing for greater visibility, to improve customer relationships, and optimally reach their audience.

Now that we’re looking forward to a new year (and hopefully, a vaccine that works) here are 21 ways you can further take advantage of the blessing that is digital marketing, and elevate your strategy to boost sales, build customer loyalty, and take your business to the next level:

  • If you’re not already, consider spending more on social media marketing. Seriously, everyone’s at home, glued to their phones now. Leveraging paid media and engaging social media posts are the best and most affordable ways to acquire customers.
  • People are now choosing to shop local, so ensure that your Google listing and SEO are on point. Otherwise, you’ll be missing out on a lot of potential customers. Here’s to being #VocalForLocal!
  • Speaking of search engine optimization, be sure to incorporate voice search components for customers who are switching over to it. Because the past few months have made us all top-tier multi-taskers, the use of voice assistants has shot up.
  • More. Interactive. Content. If all you do is give information, your audience is going to get bored of you sooner or later. Engage with them, drive conversations, and encourage them to talk to your brand.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning if you haven’t already. Trust us, it’ll do wonders for your strategy and save you tonnes of time, money, and effort. Want to know how? Learn more here.
  • Personalisation is important. Don’t speak to your customers, speak with your customers. Integrating personalization can be as simple as ensuring that they get the right recommendations as per their browsing habits, or having their name appear at the top of your website when they’re logged in.
  • Automate, especially for customer service. We’re all pretty much stuck to our phones at this point, and nobody likes late replies. Be sure to set up email automation and automated replies on social media so that your customers feel that you are proactive and present.
  • Adopt new platforms. First, it was TikTok, then it became Reels. Just be sure to explore any and every new platform that your audience is on – while it may be a bit of a hit and trial in the beginning, it might just end up yielding great results for you.
  • Refresh your visuals and designs regularly. No one likes dated, non-optimized designs, and those can be spotted from miles away. We predict that muted color palettes, genuine images, and minimalist visuals will prevail.
  • Speaking of visuals, consider making them interactive. This is a fantastic way to engage with your audience. If anything, someone will think they’re cool, show your website or social media posts to their friends, and you might just have a potential customer there.
  • Incorporate AR and VR into your content and amplification activities. We’re in the digital age, so why not create some immersive content and experiences while we’re at it?
  • Switch to targeted influencers. Yes, people follow the big names, but in reality, smaller, niche influencers truly have an audience that actively engages with them and trusts their recommendations.
  • Be inclusive. It’s almost 2024, and if you’re not being inclusive in terms of your content and visuals, you’re behind by a century. This doesn’t just help build goodwill in the minds of your customers but also makes them feel more connected to your brand.
  • Chase that ‘position zero’ on Google, and make sure to have content snippets there. Don’t forget that these featured snippets are also sometimes read out loud by voice-search assistants, too.
  • Include customer segmentation in your marketing campaigns. From a creative standpoint, instead of doing one or two large campaigns in the year, choose to do four to five smaller campaigns targeting all of your different audiences.
  • Have shoppable posts. With the shop feature taking off on Facebook and Instagram, it’s important to always include that little product tag when posting.
  • Leverage short-form videos to get your message across in a succinct way. Our attention spans are dwindling, and honestly, isn’t the success of TikTok and Reels enough proof that short-form is now king?
  • Leverage automated and smart bidding on Google Ads. Google can adjust your bids in real time and aid in maximizing your results based on your campaign goals.
  • Track your content reach. Social media reports are important, and it’s a good practice to look back at the past quarter and see your brand’s performance. Always be on the lookout for what can be improved.
  • Focus on conversions and not just leads. Leads are just those – leads. Concentrate on optimizing your customer purchase journey by studying where they leave off, what prompts them to continue, and more.
  • Build your social influence by positioning your brand as a thought leader. This won’t just help add credibility and trust in the minds of your customers, but also give you a bunch of social conversations that you can leverage for content later.

Going digital truly is the way forward. While we know that there may be a lot of fear and uncertainty that is coming with the pandemic, and everyone having to switch up their modus operandi, it is time to embrace it and use it as fuel to do better. Let’s come together and boost our economy!

Here’s to hoping that we will all continue learning, growing, and elevating our businesses in 2024. If you’d like to know more about any of the above pointers, or if you’re interested in reworking your strategy and optimizing your digital marketing activities, we’d be happy to help.
